Lawyer’s Gustav Observations: Loud Frogs and Brave Birds

The lawyer known to his blog fans as Ernie the Attorney reports that Hurricane Gustav left the city dark but not silent.

Ernest Svenson, a New Orleans solo practitioner, recorded his observations on Twitter as he weathered the storm in his high-rise condo during the weekend.

“Looking from 10th floor at cityscape: complete darkness and loud symphony of frogs,” Svenson wrote shortly before signing off yesterday evening. Other observations: The storm was much less fierce than Katrina. Satellite radio played Bob Dylan’s "Shelter from the Storm." Birds flew in strong winds.

Twitter is a microblogging service that limits posts to 140 characters and can be updated and read from cell phones. Svenson told ABAJournal.com that he is unable to blog during a power loss, but he can use Twitter, which is similar to blogging via text messaging.
